Two Factor Authentication via Starling Hybrid Subscription

As previously announced, One Identity will no longer offer Two Factor Authentication via the Starling Hybrid Subscription after November 1, 2022.

How does this affect me?

If you are using Starling Hybrid Two Factor Authentication to login to the Identity Manager Portal, for Step-Up Authentication within the Identity Manager UI, or for Approval Anywhere these features will cease to function as of November 1st, 2022.

How to tell if you have Identity Manager configured with a Starling Hybrid Subscription:

To confirm you have a Starling Hybrid Subscription linked to Identity Manager, or to disable it, please see KB 338790

Workaround or Resolution

Beginning with Identity Manager version 9.0, we will offer support for One Login Multi-Factor Authentication. This will replace Starling Hybrid Two Factor Authentication in the following scenarios:

•      Optional Two Factor Authentication to Login to the Identity Manager Portal

•      Optional Step-Up Authentication within the Identity Manager UI for tasks deemed high-risk

More details on how to configure these features can be found in the Identity Manager Administration Guide.

Starling Cloud Assistant has replaced the Approval Anywhere functionality starting in version 8.2.1. We recommend customers migrate to Cloud Assistant for an enhanced experience.

•      In Starling Cloud Assistant, transmission channels are configured and can be set separately for each recipient. Currently, Slack or Microsoft Teams can be used.

• Support for the Approval Anywhere application will be completely removed in Identity Manager version 9.0.

For more information on Starling Cloud Assistant, please visit the Starling Cloud Assistant Hosted - User Guide.

For customers remaining on Supported 8.x versions, instructions to enable 3rd party Two Factor Authentication can be found in the Identity Manager Administration Guide for the following scenarios:

•      Optional Two Factor Authentication to Login to the Identity Manager Portal

•      Optional Step-Up Authentication within the Identity Manager UI for tasks deemed high-risk
