Deprecated features

The following is a list of features that are no longer supported starting with SSB 7.0.1 LTS.

Caution:

Starting from 01 March 2021, SSB version 5 LTS is not supported anymore.

CAUTION: Before upgrading to SSB version 7.0.1 LTS in High Availability (HA) mode, ensure that the nodes have already been restarted since the last upgrade. Otherwise, you have to restart the nodes before upgrading SSB to version 7.0.1 LTS.

Caution: From SSB version 7.0.1 LTS onwards, the following hardware appliances are no longer supported:

  • syslog-ng Store Box (SSB) T1

  • syslog-ng Store Box (SSB) T4

  • syslog-ng Store Box (SSB) T10

Resolved issues

The following is a list of issues addressed in this release.

Fixed a hanging issue during debug bundle creation.

In some cases, the debug bundle creation could not respond and stuck to a running state on a file error. The issue was fixed by hardening error handling to prevent the failure of debug bundle creation.

Increased the NFS timeout.

Previously, the NFS timeout was set to 15 seconds in SSB, while the default value is 60 seconds. The lower timeout setting did not provide any benefits, but it could cause connection loss during NFS operations. Because of this, the NFS timeout is now set to the default 60 seconds.

Due to the kernel security update of SSB 7.0.1 LTS, you may experience the following issues in the SSB appliance:

  • Indexing performance may decrease.

  • Indexing of incoming logs may fail.

  • Saved logs may be inaccessible for search operations until the affected logs are not reindexed manually.

Product licensing

To enable a trial license

  1. Log in to the Trial Licenses page. Watch the short demo under How to Create a Trial License using Trial Depot?.

  2. Request a Trial License using the Trial Depot.

    The license keys will be emailed to you.

  3. Once you have the license keys, download the ISO image from the Free Trial of syslog-ng Store Box page.

To enable a purchased commercial license

  1. Navigate to My Account > My License Assets on the support portal.
  2. To access your license key, click Retrieve Key next to your product.
  3. Once you have the license keys, navigate to My Account > My Products and click Download next to your product. The Download Software page is displayed.
  4. Download the ISO image (install cdrom) of your product.
