Connecting to the Active Roles Web Interface fails with the error:
The remote endpoint does not exist or could not be located.
Cause 1:
The Active Roles service that the Web Interface is connecting to is stopped.
Cause 2:
Active Roles 7.4.4 is installed and configured to use Federated Authentication.
WORKAROUND 1
On the machine hosting the Active Roles Web Interface, browse to the settings.xml file, which is located at this path by default:
C:\Program Files\One Identity\Active Roles\7.4\Web\Public\xml
If the EDMServiceType is 0, then the Web Interface is connecting to the Active Roles instance on the local machine. If it is 2, then it is connecting to the Active Roles instance named.
Ensure that the Active Roles Administration Service is started on the configured target host.
WORKAROUND 2
This workaround is specific to Active Roles 7.4.4 with Federated Authentication configured.
1. In IIS, navigate to Application Pools.
2. Select ARWebAppPool and select Advanced Settings
3. Navigate to the setting Identity
4. Change the account to use Built-In Account | LocalSystem
