You may have noticed that a WorkFlow notification message will fail to be sent, when additional XML special characters are added to it. The issue can occur if the characters are added directly and/or if they are present in any object’s attribute value being capture by a WF search activity, for example.
These special characters in question include the following:
< - Less than
> - Greater than
& - Ampersand
' - Apostrophe or single quote
" - Double quote
This is by design. Additional XML special characters break the AR XML parser when generating the email body, in order to submit it to an IIS instance (as XML).
SOLUTION
Please remove the XML special characters from the affected WF notification body and/or from any objects’ attribute value being capture by a Workflow search activity.
