1 - Download and install version Samba 3.3.16 or higher
If you need to map non-unix enabled user to unix attributes you will need Winbindd as well.
2 - Install the latest Quest ID Mapper which you can download from: https://github.com/OneIdentity/vasidmapd
3- On QAS 4.x you will need to set the root-update-mode setting to none in the vas.conf file. You can do this by running the following command:
/opt/quest/bin/vastool configure vas nss_vas root-update-mode none
4 - Run the following command to check the health of Authentication Services:
If it reports, any errors resolve these before continuing.
5 - Run the config script: /opt/quest/sbin/vas-samba-config
