"Unable to detect a server in the specified realm" error during join -
Description
While joining the server the following error is encountered:
Stopping daemon: vasd ... OKConfiguring forest root ... example.com ... OKConfiguring site ... ad-site ... OKFailedUnable to detect a server in the specified realm: EXAMPLE.COM. Verify that the realm was typed in correctly and that DNS is properly configuredERROR: Could not join to the domainVAS_ERR_NOT_FOUND: Not foundUnable to locate servers in domain: EXAMPLE.COM, site: NULLDebug logging found that the correct domain controllers were actually being found during the join procedure despite what the error says. -
Cause
Apparently there was some old, incorrect information (e.g. IP addressess or server names) stored in the database cache -
Resolution
Deleting the QAS database files in /var/opt/quest/vas corrected this issue.
