There are three ways to reset the IPMI interface, two of it will retain the settings.
Usually it takes around one minute to fully restart the IPMI and it becomes reachable.
The commands have to be run in the boot shell of the affected appliance.
1. WARM RESET
This reset type just restart the IPMI interface without affecting the appliance.
ipmitool mc reset warm
Note: Warm reset does not work on all firmware, if "MC reset command failed: Invalid command" error message is displayed do a cold reset instead.
2. COLD RESET
This reset retains the configuration, but does the same like when the power is plugged into the appliance.
ipmitool mc reset cold
3. FACTORY RESET
This reset restores the factory defaults of the IPMI interface and does a cold reset after that.
