In order to have the Syslog-ng Store Box (SSB) work in an older version of SMB, the editing of the smb.tpl file is required.
*NOTE* - This will taint the firmware of the Syslog-ng Store Box (SSB) and thus before upgrading the firmware in the future the firmware will need to be cleaned. The template file located at /opt/ssb/share/templates/config/smb.tpl needs to be modified at line 21.
Step 1.) Replace the following statement:
Original statement:
server min protocol = SMB2_10
With the new line statement:
New statement:
server min protocol = NT1
Step 2.) After making the changes the configuration will need to be regenerated which can be done by issuing the following command:
systemctl restart makeworld
Step 3.) After regenerating the configuration, the smbd and nmbd services will need to be restarted and can be done by issuing the following command:
systemctl restart smbd nmbd
Step 4.) Once done the SSB will be using SMB version 1.
