Description

Error: "Index and length must refer to a location within the string. Parameter name: length" when using "Request a software token" in the Defender Management Portal.

Logs show the error "TokenRequestWizard - Failed to run the Token Request Wizard System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Index and length must refer to a location within the string. Parameter name: length"
Cause

CAUSE 1

This issue occurs when the AD user requesting the token telephoneNumber attribute is less than 4 characters (on the General tab of the AD users properties | Telephone number)

CAUSE 2

This issue occurs when the AD user is a member of over ~500 AD grups
Resolution

WORKAROUND
1 - Change the users to have four or more digits for their telephone number.
2 - Reduce the amount of groups the users is a member of
