Desktop login offline authentication shows the Windows login spinning then goes back to login screen -
Description
After entering username, password, and passcode during offline authentication mode, the Windows login screen spins then goes back to the login prompt with no errors displayed. -
Cause
The Windows Logon UI has a timeout that is reached before Desktop Login can complete the offline authentication -
Resolution
WORKAROUND:
Increase the IdleTimeOut for Windows Logon UI by creating the registry key below:
Path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUIAdd a DWORD key named: IdleTimeOut
Set the decimal value to: (120000 X Number of Defender Servers) configured in GinaConfig on Desktop Login client machine.
For example :
- if Number of DSS = 2, then 120000 X 2 = 240000
- if Number of DSS = 4, then 120000 X 4 = 480000
This setting can also be deployed via Microsoft group policy, please consult with Microsoft's documentation on updating machine settings via GPOs.
