Are there any issues or best practices with installing the Defender Management Portal on multiple hosts?
Can the log receiver run on multiple systems?
If both systems are used to register tokens, would one need to visit both to have a view of ALL user registrations?
You can have more than one instance of the Web Interface running. Each install will register a service connection point in Active Directory and the DSS's will recognize this after a while and connect to the log receiver on the new server, assuming the log receiver is running and the connection on the required port can be established.
If you check in 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Quest Software\Defender\DSS Active Directory Edition\Logs' you should see a logqueue.dat file (store and forward file) created for each server running the Web Interface.
Also, as per the configuration guide, the web interface does keep its own database:
The database is located, by default, at either:
- for x86 platforms:
C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Defender\Defender
Web\WWW\App_Data\SelfReg.sdf
- for x64 platforms
C:\Program Files (x86)\Quest Software\Defender\Defender
Web\WWW\App_Data\SelfReg.sdf
Therefore user token registration is per individual server.
