How to install this hotfixTo install the update:
1. Rename the file
Defender-5.8.2-SOL211829.exe.rename to remove the
.rename file name extension.
2. Run the file
Defender-5.8.2-SOL211829.exe on the computer running Defender and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
3. After the installation is complete, update the TeleSign settings on the Management Portal. For more details, see the following section, Updating TeleSign settings.
Updating TeleSign settings
1. Login to Defender Management Portal as an administrator.
2. In the left pane, click Self-Service Settings and on the right pane click Software Tokens tab.
3. Under User verification settings, in the Deliver verification code to users via box, select Automated phone call or SMS (TeleSign).
4. Type the Customer ID in TeleSign Customer ID box.
5. Type the REST API Key in the REST API Key (recommended) box and click Save.
How to determine if this hotfix is installedTo determine if the update is installed:
1. On the computer running Defender, open the list of installed programs and updates (appwiz.cpl).
2. Under
Tasks, click
View installed updates.
3. Inspect the list of installed programs and updates. When this hotfix is installed, the following item is present in the list:
Defender Hotfix: SOL211829 under
Defender 5.8.2.
How to remove this hotfixTo remove the update
1. On the computer running Defender, open the list of installed programs and updates (appwiz.cpl).
2. Under
Tasks, click
View installed updates.
3 In the list of installed programs and updates, click to select the hotfix entry
Defender Hotfix: SOL211829, and then click
Uninstall.
Alternatively:
- To remove the update from a 32-bit system, run the following command at a command prompt:
msiexec /I {BD888D58-4F07-4602-9B2D-2F4BB4E8B6C5} MSIPATCHREMOVE={C3192363-2B5D-4C1A-98AD-0ADAC1558A3B} /qb
