Soft token users receive: "Invalid Synchronous Response" Error -
Description
Users have been receiving an "Invalid Synchronous Response" error message when they attempt to authenticate with their Desktop (Soft) token. The token(s) worked for some time, and then stopped working.
This can be resolved by assigning a new token, but this is not an option for all users.
What is the resolution to this? -
Cause
This is likely due to the device (e.g.: iPhone, Android, Blackberry) time being off from that on the Defender Security Server (DSS). -
Resolution
Program a new token for the user using the "OATH Compliant" option:
The OATH Compliant encryption is event-based rather than time-based, thus any time drift issues are eliminated as a source of error.
