To install this hotfix/patch:
1. Copy the 'Defender Security Server Install.exe' and the included Visual C++ redistributable to the same folder on the server hosting the DSS.An upgrade of the Defender Security Server is required.
2. Run 'Defender Security Server Install.exe'.
3. If prompted that the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) is required, select OK to continue. The package will be installed and the DSS installation will continue as normal.
Note: If the correct or a later version of the Visual C++ redistributable is already installed then this prompt will not be seen.
We recommend that if you are upgrading the Defender Security Server, the Defender Administration Console is also upgraded to the most recent version available.
To determine if this hotfix is installed:
1. Open 'Add or Remove Programs' or 'Programs and Features'.
2. Find the "Defender Security Server Active Directory Edition" software.
3. The version number should read '5.7.0.4334'.
To remove this hotfix:
Run a previous version of the 'Defender Security Server Install.exe' from a command prompt using the /nover switch. This will remove any changes made within this hotfix and revert all files back to the previous installation.
