How to install this hotfix
To install the update:
1. Rename the file Defender-5.8.2-SOL213290.exe.rename to remove the .rename file name extension.
2. Run the file Defender-5.8.2-SOL213290.exe on the computer running Defender and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
How to determine if this hotfix is installed
To determine if the update is installed:
1. On the computer running Defender, open the list of installed programs and updates (appwiz.cpl).
2. Under Tasks, click View installed updates.
3. Inspect the list of installed programs and updates. When this hotfix is installed, the following item is present in the list: Defender Hotfix: SOL213290 under Defender 5.8.2.
How to remove this hotfix
To remove the update:
1. On the computer running Defender, open the list of installed programs and updates (appwiz.cpl).
2. Under Tasks, click View installed updates.
3. In the list of installed programs and updates, click to select the hotfix entry Defender Hotfix: SOL213290, and then click Uninstall.
Alternatively:
- To remove the update from a 32-bit system, run the following command at a command prompt:
msiexec /I {BD888D58-4F07-4602-9B2D-2F4BB4E8B6C5} MSIPATCHREMOVE={1C9D5FD1-27AA-415E-BC3B-C05B1112238E} /qb
