Token Registration Failed error when attempting to register Yubikey hardware token -
Description
When trying to register a Yubikey via the Defender Management Portal the following error appears:
Token Registration Failed
Sorry, Defender was unable to register your token at this time. Please try again later.
The Yubikey token does get created correctly despite of this error and if the service account has the correct AD permissions the this token will also be assigned to the user even though this error still appears. -
Resolution
STATUS:
Change Request # 442566 was created to address this issue in a future release of Defender.
WORKAROUND:
Ignore the error as the token will still get created and register to the user correctly as long as the service account has the correct AD permissions delegated. -
