Single Sign-on for Java provides a mechanism for integrating Java EE applications into a Single Sign-On infrastructure, based on Active Directory. Once deployed, it can be integrated with your application environment so that it sits between clients registered in your Active Directory system and the Active-Directory-registered services they want to access. Importantly, all of this occurs without your Java application code having to concern itself with the complex issues of access details and permissions.
