ERROR: "DllRegisterServer failed” for “DefenderMMC.dll" -
Description
When installing the Defender Administration Console MMC snap-in on a Windows 8 desktop, the installation log shows the following error: "DllRegisterServer failed for C:\Program Files (x86)\Quest Software\Defender\Defender Console\DefenderMMC.dll"
This install will complete, however the Defender MMC Snap-in does not work in Active Directory users and computers.

Résolution
RESOLUTION:
1. Remove the Active Directory Users and Computers feature from the system
2. Reinstall the Defender Administrator Console MMC snap-in.
a. If the Defender Administrator console installs successfully, proceed to step 3.
3. Add the Active Directory Users and Computers feature back onto the system. -
Informations supplémentaires
It is possible that there may be issues with the Microsoft Redistributable libraries on a system when installations fail to install. Please check the Event Viewer on the system to see if there are any errors in the Application or System log.
