What to backup in order to recover from disaster (4221532)

This guide will detail what you need to backup in order to recover Password Manager after a disaster.

Creating an Export file

1. From the PMAdmin site, go to General Settings  | Import/Export 
2. Copy the auto-generated password somewhere safe. You must have the auto-generated password with the export file.  The export file is of no use without the associated password. 
3. Export the configuration.

This is the preferred method of backing up both the settings and the encryption key.  This file will allow you to recover Password Manager even on a different server.

In versions of Password Manager 5.x and higher the backups are performed automatically on a daily basis of the files required to recover.  The two files required to recover are Shared.storage file (contains the configuration information for the admin site) and the Local.storage file.

C:\ProgramData\OneIdentity\Password Manager

All of the end user profile information, such as Q&A profiles, are stored in Active Directory within the Comment attribute of each user.
