How to extend the Synchronization Service/Quick Connect connector schema (4227031)

This solution will show how to extend the Synchronization Service/Quick Connect  connector schema for a certain system

When Synchronization Service/Quick Connect reads the schema from the connected system, it builds and internal map of object classes and associated attributes.

If some attribute is not directly associated with a certain object class, as it may be associated with an auxiliary class, Synchronization Service/Quick Connect  will not display that attribute for the desired object class.

This behavior is by design.

WORKAROUND

You can modify the internal class-attribute association map by using the method described below. As a result, the attributes will be associated with the required object classes.

READ THIS FIRST:

1. Adding missing classes is not supported by this method.
2. If  the missing attribute is not already associated with some class, this method is not applicable.
3. This method adds new class-attribute associations to the ConnectorConfig.xml file. The default assiciations are not stored in that file.
4. You can verify the exising class-attribute associations in Quick Connect UI by selecting different object classes and reviewing the list of available attributes under scope configuration rules or workflow rules.

STEPS TO EXTEND THE SCHEMA:

1. In Synchronization Service/Quick Connect installation folder, locate the following subfolder: Service | Connectors | <YourConnectorName>
2. Locate the file named ConnectorConfig.xml
3. Open the file for editing using Windows Notepad application
4. Locate <ClassSchemaExtension> element for user object. If it does not exist, add a new element within the <SelfConfig> element:
   <SelfConfig>
   
   .... (there might be other elements here, leave them)
   
   <ClassSchemaExtension>
   <ClassName>user</ClassName>
   <Attributes></Attributes>
   </ClassSchemaExtension>
   </SelfConfig>

• Modify the <Attributes> section adding required attributes (LDAP names) separated by semicolons:
  
  <ClassSchemaExtension>
  <ClassName>user</ClassName>
  <Attributes>attribute1;attribute2;attribute3</Attributes>
  </ClassSchemaExtension>
• Restart Quick Connect Service to apply the schema changes
