This document describes which network interface corresponds to its physical port on a Syslog-ng Store Box (SSB) 3000 and a Syslog-ng Store Box (SSB) 3500 appliance.
Appliance | Physical Port | Network Interface | Purpose |
3000 / 3500 | 1 | eth0 | External Interface |
3000 / 3500 | 2 | eth1 | Managemant Interface |
3000 / 3500 | 3 | eth2 | Internal (Unused) |
3000 / 3500 | 4 | eth3 | High Availability |
3000 / 3500 | IPMI | IPMI | IPMI |
3000 | 5 | N/A | Unused |
3000 | 6 | N/A | Unused |
3500 | 5 | SPF+ | 10GBase-T Ethernet |
3500 | 6 | SPF+ | 10GBase-T Ethernet |
In the SSB 3500 Applicance the two physical SFP+ ports (labelled 5 & 6) and the physical ethernet port (labelled 1) are bonded together into one virtual interface, which can be used as the external interface. The SSB will see these three interfaces as a single logical interface. Therefore, only one of the interfaces will actually be used. One Identity recommends that only one of these interfaces is connected to the network.
For a detailed explanation of the function of each network interface please see the ‘Network Interfaces’ section in the Admin Guide.
