In DGE 6.1.2 and 6.1.3: The default installation location of the Data Governance Edition agent is %ProgramFiles%\Quest Software\Data Governance\Agent Service.
In DGE 7.x: The default installation location of the Data Governance Edition agent is %ProgramFiles%\Dell\One Identity Manager Data Governance Edition\Agent Services.
Under certain situations you may need to install a Data Governance Edition agent to an alternate location.
In Data Governance Edition 6.1.x:
To change the installation location of a locally installed agent:
NOTE: In version 6.1.x, you cannot change the installation location for remote agents.
In Data Governance Edition 7.x:
To change the default location for installing all new Data Governance Edition agents:
Windows Registry Disclaimer: One Identity Software does not provide support for problems that arise from improper modification of the registry. The Windows registry contains information critical to your computer and applications. Make sure you back up the registry before modifying it. For more information on the Windows Registry Editor and how to back up and restore it, refer to Microsoft Article ID 256986 "Windows registry information for advanced users" at Microsoft Support.
NOTE: If, when you deploy an individual agent, you select an alternate installation folder in the Agent Details master data page (see below), it will take precedence over the default location specified in the registry.
To install an individual agent to an alternate location (applies to both local and remote agents):
NOTE: The Agent Install Directory must be a local path (for example C:\YourTargetLocation) and cannot exceed 512 characters. If there is an existing agent, you cannot install another agent with a different installation directory. All agents must be installed in the same directory.
To install an individual local agent to an alternate location (using the the Windows Installer):
NOTE: Manually installing agents is NOT recommended. In general, it is preferred to allow the Data Governance server to deploy and configure agents.
For example, msiexec.exe /i AgentInstall_x64.msi INSTALLDIR="C:\YourTargetLocation" DEPLOYMENTID="Default"
NOTE: New in version 7.0, the DEPLOYMENTID is the deployment name assigned to the Data Governance Edition deployment. In a new Data Governance Edition deployment, the default deployment name is DEFAULT.
When deploying multiple Data Governance services within the same forest in your organization each Data Governance Edition deployment is responsible for managing specific servers and there is no cross-over between Data Governance services; therefore, data from one deployment is not available in another deployment.
Agent-hosted servers belong to one Data Governance Edition deployment, and cannot be accessed by other deployments. If you attempt to install an agent to a server that already has an agent on it, and that agent already belongs to another Data Governance Edition deployment, you will receive a status of "Installing agent failed." Open the Agents view and you will see an agent status of "Agent host belongs to another deployment." The Configuration Message property on the Agent Details master data page will contain additional information, including the name of the deployment that is already using this agent.
