Error: The Server cannot access the database directly; no application server is defined on the server and no default application server either (4339428)

When attempting to start a synchronization from within the Synchronization editor the following error is presented:

The Server cannot access the database directly; no application server is defined on the server and no default application server either

Follow the steps below to create a application server connection for the on premise job server:

1. Login to Designer with an applicable account
2. Click on Base Data
3. Expand Security settings
4. Click on Connection data
5. Create a new connection data object
6. Set the Provider to Application Server
7. Click the three dots next to Connection parameter
8. Enter the application server URL and click the OK button
9. Click the three dots next to Authentication data
10. Click on Account based dialog user
11. Select System user from the list
12. Click the Ok button
13. Expand Installation
14. Double left click on Job server
15. Select the on premise job server
16. Click the Job Server 'Job Server Name' tab
17. Click the drop down next to Connection data
18. Select the connection data created in step 5
19. Check the box "No direct database connection"
20. Commit the changes to the database
