Initial startup of IT Shop is slow -
Description
When first logging into IT Shop the main login page will take around 60 seconds to load, and then subsequent load times are fine.
Sometimes the slowness will re-occur again the same day (no slowness issues with logging in, just loading the main page).
This is experienced on a daily basis by different users.
Is there a workaround for this issue? -
Resolution
There is no way to prevent the first load delay. At this time (during startup) the cache on the web server is being populated from the database.
Regarding subsequent delays, what happens is that IIS shuts down the web application when it has been idle for a certain period of time, then the web application needs some time to re-load all its data. Thus, you may want to consider extending the timeout:

Another possible workaround is to implement an "auto-start" feature which helps ease this load time. A web server admin can define a scheduled task that opens a browser and calls the web application, on the web server itself - not on individual workstations. In this way the initial start up hit can be taken before the users start logging in. For more information:
