EPIC connector does not support OAuth authentication (4384173)

The Identity Manager EPIC Healthcare System connector uses Basic Authentication (EPIC background user with Username/Password) to connect to EPIC's web services (Personnel Management and User APIs).

Customers may require OAuth 2.0 authentication instead of Basic Auth, as EPIC recommends OAuth as a best practice for API integrations.

The EPIC connector in Identity Manager (versions up to 10.0) only supports Basic Authentication. 
OAuth 2.0 is not implemented as an authentication method for the EPIC web services connection.

EPIC has confirmed that there are no current plans to deprecate Basic Authentication for the Personnel Management and User API calls.
OAuth is recommended as a best practice but is not mandatory.

An Enhancement Request (726973) has been submitted to add OAuth support to the EPIC connector.
This enhancement will be included in a future product release. Please look for Enhancement Request 726973 in future release notes.

Basic Authentication continues to work as designed and is fully supported by EPIC for the Personnel Management and User APIs. No immediate action is required.

If the enhancement is not yet released and your organization requires OAuth for compliance or security reasons, please contact your Account Manager to discuss prioritization.
