The default behavior is that when you click on start, the service is registered and started. And when you click on stop, the service is stopped and removed. But if you select "Lock Windows Service" in a configuration, it will prevent the service from being removed next time it is stopped (and also avoid the need to register when it is started)
So this is the standard way to proceed if you would like the service to start automatically. Once you have built your configuration, start it with "Lock Windows Service Details" on. This leaves the service registered, then you can modify the properties of the service to make it automatic, in order for it to start when the machine is restarted.
