What is the supported configuration for running Enterprise Single Sign-On (ESSO) version 8.0.5 SSOWatch clients with upgraded 8.0.6 Controllers?
Enterprise Single Sign-On (ESSO) is designed as a modular solution to ensure compatibility between all versions. So it's possible to have version 8.0.6 clients (SSOWatch) with an 8.0.5 controller, and vice versa.
The only impact is that for any new features which require the version 8.0.6 schema extensions, all software must be running version 8.0.6. If there is no urgent requirement for the new features you may run version 8.0.5 with 8.0.6 without issue.
One caveat is that the data is now encoded in full Unicode for support of environments with mixed character codes. This means that the 8.0.6 client will re-encode all data when it’s started for the first time. Once a user has gone to version 8.0.6 they will need to keep using version 8.0.6.
