In Management Console for Unix (MCU) when trying to setup auto profile and auto status you may get the following error...
"Unable to set password for user questusr. Validate that password policy restrictions have been met for this user”.
Defect ID 28576 - Custom local password rules is stricter than what MCU currently generates
CAUSE 1:
On SLES, password requisite pam_passwdqc.so ask_oldauthtok check_oldauthtok min=disabled,disabled,11,9,8 max=40 random=0 enforce=users retry=6
The custom setup is stricter than what MCU currently generates.. Right now the policy says it need at least 9 characters as part of the password and MCU only generates 8 character passwords.
CAUSE 2:
On Solaris,in the /etc/default/passwd file the MINSPECIAL=1 parameter was set.
Here are four workarounds:
WORKAROUND 1:
Create the account manually through MCU
WORKAROUND 2:
Create the account through unix
WORKAROUND 3:
Use an already existing account and point MCU to it.
WORKAROUND 4:
1 - Stop the MCU service.
2- Then replace the C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Management Console for Unix\webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF\lib\bullsey-server-2.5.1.jar file with the one attached.
Please NOTE: Do ensure that the old bullseye-server-2.5.1.jar file is deleted (not renamed) or completely move it into a new directory not associated to MCU
3 - Restart MCU Service
4- Then test and ensure error is no longer received.
STATUS: Pending fix in a future release
