How to upgrade Authentication Services clients.
This article is to explain the different methods of upgrading Authentication Services clients.
There is multiple ways to upgrade QAS on the system which are described in the below resolutions. We recommend shutting down any databases such as DB2 before upgrading QAS and then restarting them after the upgrade. A reboot is required for versions lower than 4.1.0.21098 that are being upgraded.
RESOLUTION 1:
Use the install.sh script at root of the product download to upgrade. Be sure to add the upgrade command when running the script. Script must be run with root access.

RESOLUTION 2:
Use the operating system package commands. The packages are in the client/
Solaris - pkgadd -a ../solaris-upgrade-defaults -d vasclnt*.pkg vasclnt
AIX - installp -acXd vasclnt.*.bff all OR you can use SMIT
3 - To upgrade QAS, simply follow the normal installation steps for both the GUI process that will detect when an upgrade is being performed and automatically perform the proper steps to upgrade versions.
