Service Connection Point (SCP) does not get created. -
Description
A service connection point (SCP) does not get created in Active Directory, even after restarting the Quick Connect Service. There are no errors in the logs or Windows Event Logs. -
Cause
The SCP is used by the Capture Agent for password synchronization. The Capture Agent reads the SCP information and stores it in its configuration file so it knows where to send the encrypted passwords when they're reset on a domain controller.
If there are no Password Sync rules configured in Quick Connect, no SCP will be created.

Resolution
Configure a Password Sync rule in Quick Connect; this will cause the Quick Connect Service to create the SCP in Active Directory.To confirm the SCP has been created, do the following:- Open ADSIEdit and connect to the default naming context of Active Directory, then navigate to the following:
- your.domain | CN=System | CN=Quest Software | CN=QuickConnect
- For Quick Connect version 5.4 and above the container exists here:
- your.domain | CN=System | CN=Dell Software | CN=QuickConnect
- Under this container, you will see the Quick Connect service connection points.
- Open ADSIEdit and connect to the default naming context of Active Directory, then navigate to the following:
