When checking a password, TPAM opens a connection to the database server using the username/password of the account being checked. If the connection can be established, the test is successful. If not, TPAM then connects to the database using the functional account and queries master..syslogins for the existence of the account. If the account exists, it is reported that there is a password mismatch, if it does not, the error indicates that the account does not exist, and if this connection cannot be established, then an “unable to connect” message is returned.
Ensure the managed account is allowed to perform a SQL login:
- Grant Permission to connect to database engine
- Enabled Login
