Description
The Active Roles Server is not accessible from either the MMC snap-in or the Web Interface. -
Cause
The Administration Service is unable to start because the service registration is missing from the Active Roles database.
This error is noted if the database has become corrupt or has been modified incorrectly.
This most likely cause of this error is if the machine hosting the Active Roles Server is renamed post-installation.

Resolution
In the event of database corruption or incorrect modification, this issue may be resolved by restoring the database from a backup file. If a backup file was not kept, a clean installation of Active Roles Server may be necessary.
In the event of the machine hosting Active Roles Server being renamed post-installation, the "Set-ARService" command may be used to insert the correct service registration into the database:
- Navigate to Start | All Programs | One Identity Active Roles 7.0 and click on "Active Roles 7.0 Management Shell".
- Run the appropriate "Set-ARService" command, depending on the SQL authentication mode being used:
Windows Authentication Mode (User currently the Management Shell):
Set-ARService -DatabaseName "DATABASE_NAME" -DatabaseServer "SQL_SERVER\INSTANCE"SQL Server Authentication Mode:
Set-ARService -DatabaseCredential -DatabaseName "DATABASE_NAME" -DatabaseServer "SQL_SERVER\INSTANCE"
