Error message: "Incorrect syntax near Name. Unclosed quotation mark after the character string."
We have some employees where either the firstname or lastname field contains an apostrophe. For example, John O'Sullivan. We receive the following error message when updating the ADSAccount:
"Error during execution of statement: UPDATE ADSAccount SET edsvaDeprovisionDeletionDate = SUBSTRING('2015-04-22 00:02:36',1,19),edsvaDeprovisionStatus = 1, cn='O'Sullivan, John', distinguishedname='CN=O'Sullivan\, John,OU=Terminated Users,DC=domain,DC=net', canonicalname='domain.net/Terminated Users/O'Sullivan, John' WHERE UID_ADSAccount = N'64fda2f5-3c0d-40f0-92c9-9c8518c8dfa0' Database error 102"
Can Identity Manager handle field values that contain an apostrophe?
Two possible causes:
1. An incorrect formatted template on the 'cn' column. Or mistakes with the code in the template or any scripts being called.
2. VI_ARS_ADSAccount_Deprovision fails at Update Object in Database when the user's last name has an apostrophe because there is no escape char in the SQL statement.
Resolution 1. If this error occurs, check if there are custom defined templates on any columns such as 'cn', 'distinguishedName' and 'CanonicalName'. Make any corrections as required and be sure to test that the results are as desired.
Resolution 2: A hotfix is available to address the issue the SQl statement in VI_ARS_ADSAccount_Deprovision. Please contact Support for the transport file for CR 22191.
