What manual maintenance task(s) is recommended for the One Identity Manager (1IM) database?
Identity Manager executes daily maintenance tasks automatically (refer to Cyclically Recurring Tasks for details).
Generally, no further maintenance task is required. For some specific situations, defragmentation of tables/indexes can be useful at times. The task should be evaluated by the DBA.
By default, Identity Manager has a lot of indexes. Depending on the environment and the customization it could make sense to define additional indexes. Database indexing is environmentally specific. This should be discussed with the DBA.
Please note: Every additional index slows down write operations and (potentially) speeds up read operations. To speed up the system, indexes can be created and monitored to determine whether they speed up the performance or slow it down. The indexes can be deleted later, if necessary. Creation of additional indexes should be evaluated carefully and will not be required unless the system is experiencing performance problems.
