You may find necessary to trigger workflows based on the completion status of previous workflows. For example:
1) A workflow schedule triggers workflow 2 when workflow 1 is completed.
This would ensure workflow 2 is only executed when necessary since time-triggered Workflows, depending on duration, are not fully reliable the completion time of workflow 1 is 100% predictable.
Currently only time based workflow schedules are available. This is by design.
An enhancement request (TFS00525803) has been created detailing the feature.
WORKAROUND
Ensure enough time is allocated for workflow 1 to complete when scheduling dependent workflow 2.
STATUS
The product team will evaluate the request and this feature may become available on a future release of the product.
