Data Governance (DGE) agents are failing to properly scan resources, and executing "restart" commands does not resolve the issue.
Although this particular issue could be related to KB article 148183, DGE Agent Error: "The externally generated group membership document could not be loaded. XML document must have a top level element", there is an alternative explanation.
If a user changes the DGE Service Account password via Active Directory or Identity Manager and fails to update the Service Account password in DGE, the agents will fail to scan and the following error will appear in the agent logs:
"Error The externally generated group membership document could not be loaded. XML document must have a top level element."
In order to correct this issue, the Service Account password must be updated in Manager.
- In Manager, select Data Governance
- Select Service Accounts
- Update Password
- Click "Save" to save the change.
