In CU11 of Microsoft Exchange 2013, Microsoft introduced a functional change to Exchange Management Shell, also known as Remote PowerShell for Exchange:

This functional change caused unexpected issues in many applications when working with mixed environments, and the behaviour was reverted to match that of previous versions in CU12:

Since Active Roles uses Remote PowerShell to communicate with Microsoft Exchange 2013, this functional change causes unexpected behaviour when Microsoft Exchange 2013 CU11 is present in the environment. This can manifest in several ways, including but not limited to:
