When viewing Client Connections in the Active Roles MMC why do some user connections show as ADSI Provider?
The Active Roles user being displayed as a ADSI Provider in the Client Version column is caused by the user connecting to the Active Roles service from a client machine with the Active Roles Management Shell installed.
It is not possible within Active Roles to determine exactly what a user connecting remotely through the shell is doing other than they are using the shell and cmdlets to connect to the Active Roles service.
Please Note: If you DO NOT want users connecting through the Management Shell and do not need to have users have that functionality then please uninstall the Management Shell from the client workstations.
