"The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted" when attempting to add an additional Managed Domain -
Description
When attempting to add an additional Managed Domain in the Active Roles Console, it fails with the error The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.
The required ports are all open and an LDAP bind on the target Domain works as expected. -
Cause
DNS servers available to the machine hosting Active Roles do not have SRV records for the target Managed Domain. -
Resolution
Review this Microsoft resource:
How to verify that SRV DNS records have been created for a domain controller
If no results are returned by Step 5 of the above, Active Roles will not be able to add this as a Managed Domains.
