When customizing the Active Roles Web Interface, it is possible to choose the Select option to embed an attribute entry which is already configured on a different form.
For example, the mail attribute is embedded in the User | General Properties form, on the General tab, by default.
Embedding this entry on a different User form, and changing any display settings (Entry description, Entry Tooltip, the Read only flag, etc) will change the display settings for the mail attribute on both forms.
This is by design.
This functionality should be documented in the Active Roles Administration documentation, but is currently not. Defect ID 738717 has been raised to address this documentation issue.
All embedded attributes have global display settings. Changing display settings on one form with adjust those display settings on all forms where that same attribute is embedded.
WORKAROUND
When embedding the attribute, change the Entry name to something unique. This creates a separate entry of the same attribute, which has its own display settings, and which can be customized for individual Web Interface forms.
STATUS
Documentation issue is waiting for fix in a future version of Active Roles.
