When performing an in place upgrade, there are no options presented to select the desired installation path. The product automatically installs the update on the C:\ drive, even though the previous version installed on another drive, i.e. D:\.
This is by design. Currently, Active Roles will always perform the In-Place Upgrade installation on the default C:\ drive.
Product Defect 763071 has been raised for resolution in a future version of Active Roles.
WORKAROUND
If the product is required to be installed on another drive (non-default C:\), the product allows you to select the desired path by performing a fresh/clean install. Simply uninstall the previous version of the product and run the installer and import the previous version’s configuration via the AR Configuration Center:
Active Roles 7.2.1 - Quick Start Guide (Steps to deploy the Administration Service, see: Importing configuration data)
If the in place upgrade has already been performed, and correction of the product’s installation path is necessary, uninstall and reinstall the product and the fresh/clean install will allow you to select the desired installation path and specify the newly created/configured database during the In-Place upgrade:
Active Roles 7.2.1 - Quick Start Guide (Steps to deploy the Administration Service, see: Using the database of an earlier Administration Service installation)
STATUS
Defect 763071 will be fixed on a future release of the product.
