When using the "Local file" import option in the "RFC 2307 NIS Map Import Wizard", the resultant AD entries are not correct.
Incorrect method of dumping the NIS maps. The -k option to ypcat needs to be specified.
The correct way to dump NIS maps for import into the "RFC 2307 NIS Map Import Wizard" is to use "ypcat -k" on any NIS client.
For example:
Hosts:
# ypcat -k hosts.byaddr > hosts.txt
Netgroup:
# ypcat -k netgroup > netgroup.txt
Networks:
# ypcat -k networks.byaddr > networks.txt
Protocols:
# ypcat -k protocols.bynumber > protocols.txt
RPC:
# ypcat -k rpc.byname > rpc.txt
Services:
# ypcat -k services.byname > services.txt
Other Maps:
# ypcat -k [map name] > other.txt
These .txt files can then be used without modification in the import wizard. It is still advised that you proof-read these import files to avoid creating needless (defect) NIS-AD objects.
