When attempting to start the Active Roles Administration Service, the startup fails and the following error message is posted to the Active Roles Admin Service Event Viewer logs:
A system assertion check has failed. Check the SQL Server error log for more information. Typically, an assertion failure is caused by a software bug or data corruption. To check for database corruption, consider running DBCC CHECKDB.
CAUSE 1
This issue may possibly be caused by a known issue which can be resolved by upgrading Microsoft SQL.
CAUSE 2
This error message may also be and indication of database corruption.
WORKAROUND 1
If running SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2008 R2, please see the linked Microsoft resources. If applicable, upgrade Microsoft SQL.

WORKAROUND 2
Restore the database from the most recent backup to resolve the corruption.
