When Active Directory users need access to multiple nodes on a Linux cluster environment, what is the recommended way to do so?
The recommended approach is to simply install VAS on the master server and also on the nodes, having them all connect directly to the same Active Directory DC. This will allow UNIX enabled users on the DC to access the nodes joined to that domain. If NIS is a requirement and currently used on your network, another option is to have the master joining the domain using VAS and configure vasypd on it. This will allow the nodes to use NIS clients to obtain the AD credentials from the Master. Due to the security issues related to NIS, this option should be implemented with care.
