There may be circumstances when the Password Manager SPE needs to be removed from workstations and/or laptops.
In cases where the SPE has been deployed via Group Policy you may specify within the Group Policy Object (GPO) to remove it from users and computers:
- Select to edit the GPO used to deploy the SPE: expand "Computer Configuration | Software settings" and select "Software Installation". Locate the "Quest Secure Password Extension". Right-click the software application and select "All Tasks -> Remove..." A dialog will be displayed:
Option 1: "Immediately uninstall the software from users and computers"
Option 2: "Allow users to continue to use the software, but prevent new installations"
Selecting Option 1 should remove the SPE from workstations and/or laptops (gpupdate /force can be used to enforce the policy change. A restart is necessary for complete removal.)
The SPE can also be removed manually using the Add or Remove Programs option from Control Panel (in this case Option 2 should be selected within the GPO above. Otherwise, as long as the workstation or laptop affected is receiving the policy settings through Group Policy, the SPE may be re-installed.)
