Workflow notifications not working when running Active Roles 6.9 side by side with 7.x -
Description
After migrating from Active Roles 6.9 to 7.x and running them side by side on the same server, workflow notifications do not work as expected. The following error is observed when attempting to preview the notification from the notification configuration within the Workflow:
- Exception from HRESULT: 0x8004266
The following error is also present in the Active Roles Event Viewer logs:
- Failed to create AppDomain.

Cause
Workflow notifications in Active Roles 7.x are generated utilizing the web.config file located at:
- C:\ProgramData\Quest Software\ActiveRoles Server\MailMsgGen\cfg.
This same config file is also used by Active Roles 6.9 to generate workflow notifications. When 6.9 and 7.x are running side by side on the same server, whichever service was restarted most recently will have exclusive control over the file and therefore notification generation.

Resolution
Restarting the 7.x service should resolve the issues described above.
If the Active Roles 6.9 service is restarted at any point in the future, ensure that the 7.x service is restarted afterwards as well.
