When trying to perform a join via pmjoin_plugin, this is returned: "ERROR: The client must be joined to the local or primary policy server when the server package is installed." -
Description
When you attempt the join command: "/opt/quest/sbin/pmjoin_plugin test_policy_server" an error is returned:
"ERROR: The client must be joined to the local or primary policy server when the server package is installed."

Cause
The error may be indicating that the server package has been installed on this client machine rather than the client package. -
Resolution
Confirm via the OS package manager what package is installed (eg via a list of installed qpm* packages with "rpm -qa | grep qpm" or similar).
Example:
root@testclient ~]# rpm -qa | grep qpmqpm-server-6.0.0-50.x86_64The above shows the server package is installed; if this is mean to be a client machine:
- remove the server package
- install the client package
- test the join again.
