How to create unlinked group personalities?
RESOLUTION 1:
On the UNIX machine you can use the uptool command. See below from our lab:
root@stewie # uptool -u administrator create gp
Password for administrator@CS-UNIX.CA:
Enter the DN to the Personality Container
[OU=testingUPM,dc=cs-gloria,dc=com]: OU=Personalities,OU=Halifax,OU=Locations,DC=cs-unix,DC=ca
Would you like to link this Personality to an Active Directory Group? (y/n) : n
Enter a group-formatted entry for the new Group Personality:
FORMAT=[NAME]:x:[GID]
Type 'NULL' for undesired fields, defaults will be used for empty values
[NULL:x:NULL]: unlinked-GP:x:1005
Group Personality 'unlinked-GP' successfully created.
RESOLUTION 2:
In Windows
Initially you have to link to a group, when you create a group personality. Then you can click on unlink and the link will then be removed.
WARNING: You will be unable to modify the group membership of a unlinked group
