HOW TO: Automatically apply Exchange E-mail Address Policies from Exchange in Active Roles (4216126)

When updating user attributes in an Active Roles client, any email policies set in Microsoft Exchange will not automatically get applied.

If changes are made in the native Exchange Management clients, the email policy is applied.

For example: Updating a name in Active Roles will not automatically update an email address. Updating a name in a native Microsoft Exchange client will also update that user's email address and alias.

This is expected functionality.

An Enhancement Request has been made to change current behaviour so that changes made in Active Roles Clients will trigger any Microsoft Exchange Email Address Policy which is in scope.

WORKAROUND

1. In the Active Roles Console, navigate to Configuration | Script Modules
2. In the desired scripts container, right-click and select New | Script Module
3. Enter a Name and Description and ensure to select PowerShell in the Script Language drop-down list
4. Click Next and then ensure Policy Script is selected and click Next
5. Ignore the event handler options and click Next and then Finish
6. Once the Script Module is created, click on it and then paste the PowerShell code from the attached file (UpdateMailPolicy.txt)
7. Right-click on the Script Module on the left navigation pane and click Save Script On Server
8. Now that the script module exists, navigate to Configuration | Policies
9. In the desired Policy container, right-click and select New | Provisioning Policy
10. Click Next and enter an appropriate Name and Description
11. Click Next and then click to select Script Execution
12. Click Next and then navigate the Script Module from Step 2 above
13. Ensure that the Script Module is selected and click Next
14. Click Next again
15. Click Add and select the desired Containers and/or Managed Units
16. Click Next and then Finish

STATUS

This Enhancement Request can be tracked using Enhancement ID 110847.

Product Management will review the open enhancement requests on a periodic basis and consider them for inclusion in a future product release. Product enhancements will not be considered or implemented in current or prior product releases. There is no guarantee that a specific enhancement request will be implemented in a future version of our product. It is at our discretion if a certain enhancement will be offered for an additional charge or as a chargeable option.
