How can specific components be backed up and restored? -
Description
In some cases, there may be an issue with the Active Roles Server (ARS) configuration where a backup and restore of the database is not an option. As an example, the configuration of a Managed Unit can be backed up individually and restored with little impact to the existing ARS installation. -
Cause
This can be done with the Configuration Transfer Wizard. -
Resolution
Using the Active Roles Configuration Transfer Wizard, you can export Active Roles configuration objects (such as Access Templates, Managed Units, Policy Objects, Policy Type objects, etc) to an XML file and then import them from that file to populate another instance of Active Roles.
The export and import operations provide a way to move configuration objects from a test environment to a production environment. This is a convenient way to backup specific configuration objects in the event that a restore is required.
The location of the Configuration Transfer Wizard is a part of the installation CD/download files:
Active Roles 6.X:
